Calvin Allen, a 37-year-old Louisville man, was sentenced to 16 years in prison for distributing fentanyl and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Between May and November 2025, Allen sold fentanyl powder to a confidential informant on nine occasions, totaling 712.84 grams. He also possessed a Glock pistol during one of the transactions. The sentence was handed down on August 7, 2026, in the Western District of Kentucky.
Allen’s crimes were uncovered through a series of controlled purchases and a search warrant executed at his residence on November 24, 2025. During the search, authorities seized 60.26 grams of fentanyl powder, 13.32 grams of heroin, a Glock pistol, and $31,476 in cash.
The investigation was led by the ATF, DEA, and Louisville Metro Police Department. U.S. Attorney Kyle Bumgarner stated that Allen’s sentence reflects the danger posed by the fentanyl he trafficked and serves as a warning to others involved in similar activities.
The case highlights the ongoing efforts to combat the fentanyl epidemic in Kentucky and the severity of the penalties for those involved in drug trafficking. Allen’s sentence of 16 years in prison, followed by four years of supervised release, is a significant consequence for his crimes.
