Matthew Cruz, a 36-year-old West Hartford resident, has pleaded guilty to distributing massive amounts of fentanyl and possessing firearms. Between February and March 2025, Cruz sold narcotics to undercover agents from the FBI’s Northern Connecticut Gang Task Force. A subsequent search of his residence on Newington Road in West Hartford uncovered a staggering haul of over 600 grams of fentanyl, 184 grams of heroin, and other controlled substances, along with six firearms and nearly $14,000 in cash.
