Fredrick Crawford, a 33-year-old fentanyl trafficker from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, was caught selling nearly 10 ounces of the deadly narcotic in Northeast Washington, DC, between April and August 2025. Crawford, also known as ‘Playboy’, conducted six transactions with an undercover officer, including four sales of 40 grams or more of fentanyl, worth about $15,000. The drug deals took place in a vehicle parked at a lot on the 2400 block of Market Street NE, while Crawford stored his illicit goods in his home where his young children slept.
Crawford’s operation was busted when law enforcement executed a search warrant at his Upper Marlboro residence on October 1, 2025. Officers recovered over $10,000 in cash, a large quantity of ammunition, and five types of drugs, including fentanyl, crack cocaine, and marijuana. Crawford was negotiating a seventh transaction for a half kilogram of fentanyl for $17,500 when he was caught.
Crawford pleaded guilty on February 20, 2026, to one count of unlawful distribution of 40 grams or more of fentanyl. He was sentenced to 66 months in prison, followed by 48 months of supervised release. The sentence is a significant blow to fentanyl traffickers in the DC area, who will face the full force of federal prosecution.
