A 29-year-old Springfield man has been caught in a fentanyl trafficking ring that peddled death in the Bay State’s capital.
Between February 5 and 22, 2024, Emilio Garcia-Cappas conspired with co-conspirators to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fentanyl. On February 12, 2024, undercover law enforcement purchased fentanyl from Garcia-Cappas, catching him in the act.
The defendant, who was indicted in April 2024, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fentanyl and one count of distribution and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl on April 17, 2026.
Garcia-Cappas faces up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $2 million. U.S. District Court Judge Mark G. Mastroianni will decide his fate on July 29, 2026.
