A major fentanyl trafficking operation was busted in Dade City, Florida, with five individuals arrested and charged with federal drug offenses. The suspects, including Aaron McKinney, Derrick Harrison, Derrick Harrison II, Derrick Gentles, and Michael Taylor, were accused of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances, including fentanyl. The arrests were made as part of a Homeland Security Task Force initiative, with the FBI, DEA, and HSI leading the investigation.
According to court records, McKinney was the ringleader of the operation, selling fentanyl and other controlled substances in Dade City. The others assisted McKinney with his drug trafficking business, which trafficked over 400 grams of fentanyl, along with cocaine. The investigation was a multi-agency effort, with the Pasco Sheriff’s Office and the Zephyrhills Police Department also participating.
The suspects face serious prison time if convicted, with McKinney facing a maximum sentence of life in federal prison. Harrison and Harrison II each face up to 40 years in prison, while Gentles and Taylor face up to 20 years. The case will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michael J. Buchanan.
