Fort Pierce Sex Offender Indicted for Child Predation

A 48-year-old Fort Pierce man has been charged with attempting to entice a 13-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity, putting him behind bars and facing a lengthy federal prison sentence.

Chad Allen Pease, a registered sex offender, was arrested on February 4, 2024, after traveling to a prearranged meeting spot where he planned to meet the minor and her father, who was actually an undercover law enforcement officer.

According to court documents, Pease began communicating with the UC on February 3, 2024, and made plans to meet up with the “father” and his “daughter” so that Pease could have sex with the child.

An indictment charging Pease with attempting to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity and committing a felony offense involving a minor when required to register as a sex offender was returned by a federal grand jury.

If convicted on all counts, Pease faces a minimum mandatory penalty of 20 years, up to life, in federal prison. The indictment also notifies Pease that the United States intends to forfeit assets which were used in commission or are alleged to be traceable to proceeds of the offense.

This case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Richard Varadan will prosecute the case.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to protect our children from predators like Chad Pease,” said U.S. Attorney Roger B. Handberg. “This investigation is a prime example of the federal and local agencies working together to keep our communities safe.”

An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty.
