Local Man Admits to Structuring Financial Transactions to Evade Reporting Requirements
WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA – In a shocking turn of events, Francis Tucker, a 67-year-old resident of Moundsville, West Virginia, has pleaded guilty to structuring financial transactions to evade reporting requirements, announced United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II.
Tucker’s admission of guilt marks the culmination of a long-standing investigation into illicit financial activities. The crime, which occurred in 2016, involved the withdrawal of proceeds from the sale of a property in Florida in a manner and with the intent to avoid bank reporting requirements regarding certain cash transactions.
According to court documents, Tucker faces up to five years of incarceration and a fine of up to $250,000. The Federal Sentencing Guidelines will determine the actual sentence imposed, taking into account the seriousness of the offense and Tucker’s prior criminal history, if any.
The case against Tucker was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Danae DeMasi-Lemon and Jarod J. Douglas on behalf of the government. The FBI led the investigation.
U.S. Magistrate Judge James P. Mazzone presided over the proceedings.
