A notorious meth dealer who fled West Tennessee has been caught in Mexico, bringing an end to her long game of cat and mouse with law enforcement. Angelica Escobedo Bernal, 33, was indicted in February 2024 for her role in a meth trafficking conspiracy in West Tennessee.
According to court documents, Bernal participated in the sale of 1 kilogram of methamphetamine. She pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine in December 2024 and was set to be sentenced in May 2025.
However, Bernal failed to appear for her sentencing hearing, prompting the issuance of an arrest warrant. The US Marshals Service tracked her down to Mexico, where she was arrested on March 31, 2026, with the assistance of Mexican authorities.
Bernal will now face extradition proceedings in Mexico, paving the way for her return to West Tennessee to face the music. ‘No matter how far you run, you cannot escape justice and accountability in this district,’ said US Attorney D. Michael Dunavant.
