The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has announced that GARY JAMES NEEL, a 40-year-old resident of Wagoner, has been sentenced to 24 months imprisonment, followed by 5 years of supervised release, for failing to register as a sex offender.

Neel was indicted in December 2012 and convicted by a federal jury in March 2013. The investigation was led by the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Department, along with law enforcement agencies from Denver and Aurora, Colorado, and the United States Marshal Services in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Denver, Colorado.

Neel will be transported to a federal facility to serve his nonparolable sentence, pending which he remains in the custody of the United States Marshal Service.
