Local Man Sentenced to 50 Months in Prison for Traveling to Meet Underage Girl

A Fairfax Station, Virginia man has been sentenced to 50 months in prison for traveling to Washington D.C. to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor and possessing child pornography.

George Ronald Marion, 67, was sentenced on February 2013 by the Honorable Ellen S. Huvelle in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

According to the government’s evidence, Marion communicated online, by text message, and by telephone with an individual regarding his interest in engaging in sexual contact with an underage girl. The individual, who was actually acting under law enforcement supervision, worked with the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force.

On December 8, 2012, Marion traveled from Virginia to the prearranged meeting location in Washington, D.C., where he was arrested. Following his arrest, law enforcement conducted a search of his residence and found approximately seven videos and 16 images of child pornography on his computer and electronic storage devices.

The case was brought as part of the Justice Department’s Project Safe Childhood initiative, which is a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.

Marion will also be required to register as a sex offender, receive sex offender treatment, and follow limits on computer/Internet usage and contact with minors as part of his 10 years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay a $3,000 fine.
