PORTLAND, Maine – A Mexican national has been handed a 10-month sentence for illegal reentry into the United States after previously being removed. Miguel Gomez-Sanchez, 45, pleaded guilty on June 26, 2025, in U.S. District Court.
The grim saga began when Gomez-Sanchez was arrested by Maine State Police on May 10, 2025, for operating under the influence on I-95. An ICE ERO investigation revealed a troubling history of illegal reentry.
Records show Gomez-Sanchez had been removed from the U.S. multiple times and was most recently expelled in 2022 following a conviction for illegal reentry after a prior removal.
Judge Nancy Torresen sentenced Gomez-Sanchez, who faces a grim future behind bars.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a DOJ initiative targeting illegal immigration, cartels, and transnational criminal organizations. The operation leverages resources from OCDETF and PSN to protect communities.
The sentence sends a stark message about the severity of illegal reentry, emphasizing the commitment to uphold U.S. immigration laws and protect national security.
