MICHAEL W. LANDON, Child Pornography Production and Possession, Connecticut 2025

David X. Sullivan, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that MICHAEL W. LANDON, 39, of Groton, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Kari A. Dooley in Bridgeport to 360 months of imprisonment and 15 years of supervised release for producing and possessing child sex abuse material.

According to court documents and statements made in court, the FBI initiated an investigation into Landon in March 2023 after discovering he was distributing child pornography on Wickr. The chat room, dedicated to spy cameras and voyeurism, contained videos depicting a minor girl in private spaces. On April 4, 2023, investigators seized Landon’s iPhone, which held graphic videos of the defendant sexually assaulting a minor boy, as well as other child sexual abuse content.

Landon has been detained since his arrest on June 28, 2023, for state charges related to the case. He pleaded guilty in federal court on April 8, 2025, to producing and possessing child pornography. The state charges are still pending. The investigation was a joint effort between the FBI and the Town of Groton Police Department.

The U.S. Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood Initiative, which combats child sexual exploitation, prosecuted the case. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Sean P. Mahard and Nancy V. Gifford led the prosecution. For more information on Project Safe Childhood, visit www.justice.gov/psc.
