GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: Daniel Thomas Sanchez, 36, of Dededo, Guam, has been sentenced to 63 months imprisonment after being convicted of Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine.
In a gritty sweep by the Guam Police Department (GPD), officers discovered Sanchez with a loaded shotgun at his residence, sparking a chain of events that led to his downfall. On March 5, 2024, GPD officers pulled over a vehicle where Sanchez was found with meth and multiple firearms during a routine traffic stop.
Sanchez’s criminal history includes convictions for family violence and aggravated assault, disqualifying him from possessing firearms. United States Attorney Shawn N. Anderson emphasized the gravity of such crimes, stating that armed felons and unlawful drug users pose grave dangers to communities.
The ATF Seattle Field Division Special Agent in Charge, Jonathan Blais, vowed to safeguard citizens by pursuing criminals who traffic drugs and illegally possess firearms. Assistant United States Attorney Devarup Rastogi prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, & Explosives (ATF) and the Guam Police Department.
Sanchez has been ordered to pay a mandatory $300 special assessment fee and will serve three years of supervised release upon his release from federal prison.
