Juan Jose Antuche-Garcia, Assaulting a Federal Officer, Pennsylvania 2025

Gritty Pittsburgh: In a stunning turn of events, Juan Jose Antuche-Garcia, a 33-year-old citizen of Guatemala, was sentenced to time served for assaulting a federal law enforcement officer in Pennsylvania. The incident, which unfolded on August 12, 2025, left the officer injured and the defendant facing serious charges.

According to court documents, Antuche-Garcia illegally entered the United States on September 3, 2023. After being released on bond by immigration authorities, he failed to appear in court as directed, resulting in an order for his removal from the country.

The violent confrontation occurred when federal officers attempted to pull over a vehicle Antuche-Garcia was riding in. The driver, who was also apprehended, rammed into an officer’s vehicle, pinning the officer’s leg between the vehicles. Antuche-Garcia, as the front passenger, attempted to flee by repeatedly opening his door into the trapped officer’s leg, causing further injury.

Assistant United States Attorney Rebecca L. Silinski prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States. Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti commended U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, the IRS-Criminal Investigation, and the DEA for their roles in the investigation that led to Antuche-Garcia’s conviction.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations, combating illegal immigration, and protecting communities from violent crime. Antuche-Garcia will remain in custody pending his removal from the United States.
