Kender Jose Alvarez-Hernandez, Unlawful Reentry of Removed Alien, Oklahoma 2023

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – In a gritty courtroom battle against illegal immigration, Kender Jose Alvarez-Hernandez, 21, a Guatemalan national with a dubious past in Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to one count of Unlawful Reentry of Removed Alien. The crime carries a maximum sentence of two years imprisonment and a fine of up to $250,000.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma didn’t mince words as it announced Alvarez-Hernandez’s plea, noting that his charge stemmed from a June 17, 2025, incident where he was found in the United States despite having been removed from the country earlier in the same year.

This sordid affair came to light through an investigation led by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division, along with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office. According to the Indictment, Alvarez-Hernandez had not received express consent from the Secretary of Homeland Security before attempting to reapply for admission to the United States.

The defendant’s case is part of Operation Take Back America, a massive nationwide initiative aimed at tackling illegal immigration head-on, dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and safeguarding local communities. The operation leverages resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).

U.S. Magistrate Judge D. Edward Snow presided over Alvarez-Hernandez’s plea, which was followed by an order for a presentence investigation report to be completed. The final sentence will be determined by the U.S. District Court, taking into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other relevant statutory factors.

As of now, Alvarez-Hernandez remains in the custody of the United States Marshals Service until his sentencing is finalized. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Dak T. Cohen and Richard J. Lorenz represented the United States in this pivotal legal battle.
