HARRISBURG – Rocael Lopez-Lopez, a 32-year-old Guatemalan National from Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for illegal reentry into the United States. The crime-happy Lopez-Lopez, who’s already been kicked out of the country once, is now facing serious heat.
Lopez-Lopez was first booted from the U.S. on December 21, 2012, in Phoenix-Mesa, Arizona. But like a stubborn weed, he found his way back to Franklin County, Pennsylvania, on April 28, 2025 – without legal permission this time. The feds caught him red-handed.
This case is part of the Department of Justice’s Operation Take Back America, a nationwide effort to stamp out illegal immigration and dismantle transnational criminal organizations. Lopez-Lopez is in for a rough ride as he goes up against Assistant United States Attorney Michael Scalera, who’s got a knack for bringing crooks to justice.
Under federal law, Lopez-Lopez could be looking at two years behind bars, along with a fine and supervised release. The Judge will decide his fate after considering all the facts and federal sentencing guidelines. But one thing’s for sure – this isn’t the kind of charge you want on your rap sheet.
This case was investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations, and the justice system is ready to mete out justice. Indictments are serious business, but everyone gets a fair shake in court. Until then, Lopez-Lopez is presumed innocent, but he’s got some explaining to do.
Stay tuned for updates on this grimy case as it unfolds in the gritty federal courts of Pennsylvania.
