OCALA, FL – In a stunning turn of events, Guatemalan national Jairon Micael Juarez-Gomez (36) has been slapped with federal charges for illegal reentry and failure to register as a sex offender. The grim news comes from United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe, who revealed the return of an indictment against the defendant.
Juarez-Gomez, a convicted felon, was sentenced to sexual battery on a child aged 12-18 years back in November 2020. As per the stringent Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA), he was mandated to register upon his conviction. However, following deportation to Guatemala in December 2020, Juarez-Gomez mysteriously returned to the United States without permission from the Attorney General or the Secretary of Homeland Security, sneaking back on August 8, 2025.
According to the indictment, Juarez-Gomez brazenly ignored his legal obligation under SORNA by not registering as a sex offender. The maximum penalty he faces if convicted is a staggering 30 years in federal prison.
This case has been meticulously investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), the United States Marshals Service, the Mount Dora Police Department, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Assistant United States Attorney Hannah Nowalk Watson is prosecuting this matter with unwavering resolve.
Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and protecting communities from violent crime, has taken notice of this case. It underscores the ongoing efforts to repel the invasion of illegal immigration and eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs).
The grim headlines are only the beginning for Juarez-Gomez, whose legal troubles continue to mount as he now faces federal charges that could shackle him for decades.
