SCRANTON, PA – A federal grand jury has indicted Darious Felder, a 34-year-old resident of Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, for drug trafficking offenses. Felder is accused of conspiring with others to distribute and possess methamphetamine in Luzerne County between January and April 2025.
According to Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus, the indictment specifies that on three separate occasions in March and April, Felder distributed and intended to distribute at least 50 grams of the substance. The charges against Felder are part of Operation Take Back America, a Justice Department initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration, cartels, and transnational criminal organizations.
The investigation into Felder was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), Shenandoah Police Department, and the Schuylkill County District Attorney’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney James M. Buchanan is handling the prosecution.
Operation Take Back America coordinates efforts across the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood programs. The maximum penalty for these offenses under federal law is a prison sentence of up to 40 years, followed by supervised release and a fine. However, it’s important to note that indictments are merely allegations, and all individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Felder’s case underscores the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in Pennsylvania and across the nation. The grim reality of the illegal drug trade highlights the need for robust law enforcement actions to protect communities from such criminal activities.
