OCALA, FLORIDA – The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida has dropped a bombshell as Gregory W. Kehoe announced the return of an indictment against Jairon Micael Juarez-Gomez (36, Guatemala). Juarez-Gomez is facing charges for illegal reentry by a previously deported alien and failure to register as a sex offender.
The grim details reveal that Juarez-Gomez was convicted of sexual battery on a child aged 12-18 years on November 30, 2020. Post-conviction, he was legally required to register under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA). On December 29, 2020, he was deported, excluded, and removed from the United States to Guatemala.
However, the story takes a darker turn as Juarez-Gomez was found back in the U.S. on August 8, 2025 – without permission from the Attorney General or the Secretary of Homeland Security to reapply for admission. Moreover, he knowingly failed to comply with SORNA’s sex offender registration requirements upon his return.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), the United States Marshals Service, the Mount Dora Police Department, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement have been investigating this harrowing case. Assistant United States Attorney Hannah Nowalk Watson is prosecuting the case with unyielding determination.
Operation Take Back America, a nationwide DOJ initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration, eliminating cartels, transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime perpetrators, includes this case as one of its focal points.
This is not just another case; it’s a stark reminder of the relentless pursuit of justice and the unwavering commitment to keeping our streets safe. The maximum penalty Juarez-Gomez faces? 30 years in federal prison. Stay tuned for updates on this chilling saga.
