Christopher Paredes, a 43-year-old Springfield man, allegedly fired a gun from his back porch at a neighbor on March 30, 2026, sparking a response from the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office. Paredes, a convicted felon, was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm after a dramatic standoff with law enforcement. The incident occurred in Springfield, Tennessee, where Paredes had been discharging a gun from his back porch, prompting multiple calls from concerned citizens.

According to court documents, Paredes had previously been convicted of assault in the second degree and wanton endangerment in the first degree in 2011 in Warren County, Kentucky. He was sentenced to serve 15 years in state prison. The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team used flashbangs and chemical agents to facilitate Paredes’ surrender after he initially refused to exit his residence.

Deputies recovered a Sig Sauer .40 caliber pistol from Paredes’ back porch and eight .40 caliber casings from the back yard. If convicted, Paredes faces a maximum of 15 years in federal prison and a maximum fine of $250,000. The case is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office.

United States Attorney Braden H. Boucek emphasized the importance of keeping communities safe from armed and violent criminals, stating that Middle Tennessee has some of the greatest neighborhoods in America and they should be safe from gunfire. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Carlin C. Hess.
