Hector Rodriguez-Rodriguez, 55, Pleads Guilty to Re-entry of a Deported Alien
New Orleans, LA – In a disturbing case of repeated criminal activity, Hector Rodriguez-Rodriguez, a 55-year-old El Salvadoran national, pleaded guilty on November 30, 2021 to re-entry of a deported alien previously convicted of a felony, in violation of 8 U.S.C. § 1326(a) and (b)(2).
According to the bill of information, Hector Rodriguez-Rodriguez reentered the United States after he was previously deported on October 27, 1992. Furthermore, on or about May 29, 2019, the defendant was convicted of illegal possession of less than two grams of cocaine and aggravated battery in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana.
The defendant faces a maximum term of up to 20 years imprisonment, a maximum fine of up to $250,000, a maximum term of up to 3 years of supervised release, and a mandatory $100 special assessment fee.
U.S. District Judge Jay C. Zainey has set sentencing for February 2, 2022.
U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans praised the work of the United States Department of Homeland Security in investigating this matter. Assistant U.S. Attorney M. Irene González is in charge of the prosecution.
