Heroin Distribution Duo Brought to Justice
A devastating heroin distribution operation has been dismantled in West Virginia, leaving two individuals facing severe penalties. Mark Hanshaw, 27, of Harpers Ferry, and Tiara Adams, 31, of Red Lion, Pennsylvania, have been convicted for their roles in the operation.
According to court documents, Hanshaw pled guilty to one count of Conspiracy to Distribute Heroin, a charge that carries a maximum sentence of twenty years in prison and a fine of up to $1,000,000. The Federal Sentencing Guidelines state that the actual sentence will be based on the seriousness of the offense and Hanshaw’s prior criminal history, if any.
Adams, on the other hand, pled guilty to one count of Conspiracy to Launder Monetary Instruments, a charge that also carries a maximum sentence of twenty years in prison and a fine of up to $500,000. Like Hanshaw, the actual sentence will be determined by the Federal Sentencing Guidelines and any prior criminal history Adams may have.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna Z. Krasinski on behalf of the government. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Eastern Panhandle Drug and Violent Crime Task Force conducted the investigation.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert W. Trumble presided over the case, bringing the operation to a close. The convictions serve as a stark reminder of the devastating effects of heroin distribution and the importance of law enforcement’s efforts to combat it.
