Thompson Sentenced to 180 Months for Abusive Sexual Contact with a Child

A Little Eagle, South Dakota man has been sentenced to 180 months in federal prison for his role in the abuse of a child.

On May 16, 2022, U.S. District Court Judge Charles B. Kornmann handed down the sentence to 31-year-old Holden Cole Thompson, who was convicted of Abusive Sexual Contact with a Child.

Thompson was also given five years of supervised release and a special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund in the amount of $100.

According to court documents, Thompson engaged in sexual contact with a child who had not yet turned 12 years old between 2015 and 2016 in Little Eagle.

The conviction stemmed from an indictment by a federal grand jury on June 8, 2021, and Thompson pleaded guilty on October 18, 2021.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Cameron J. Cook prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Thompson was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service following the sentencing, bringing an end to the case.

Thompson’s sentence serves as a reminder of the severity of the consequences for those who commit such heinous crimes.
