Frelin Hernandez Guardado, a 30-year-old Honduran illegal alien, has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for his role in a sinister plot to kill a suspected informant in a local drug trafficking network. The events unfolded in October and December 2021, when Hernandez Guardado sold firearms to confidential sources and later offered to sell discounted cocaine in exchange for help committing the murder. On January 12, 2022, law enforcement stopped and arrested Hernandez Guardado in Maryland, foiling his plan.
According to court documents, Hernandez Guardado’s troubles began when he sold firearms to confidential sources, a federal crime for an illegal alien. He then attempted to recruit one of these sources to help him kill an individual he believed had cooperated with law enforcement, which had led to the arrests of several individuals in a local drug trafficking network.
Hernandez Guardado brought over 900 grams of cocaine to a meeting with a confidential source, intending to sell it at a discount in exchange for assistance with the murder. However, before the plan could progress further, law enforcement intervened and arrested him.
The sentence was announced by U.S. Attorney Kelly O. Hayes, along with Special Agents from the ATF, DEA, FBI, and the Prince George’s County Police Department. This prosecution is part of the Trump Administration’s Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) initiative.
