Hot Springs Man Charged With Felon In Possession Of A Firearm
A Hot Springs man is facing up to 10 years in custody and a $250,000 fine after being charged with Felon In Possession Of A Firearm.
According to court documents, Jesse D. Grimm, 32, was indicted by a federal grand jury on March 18, 2014, for allegedly possessing a firearm, a Glock Model 27, which had been shipped and transported in interstate commerce.
Grimm, who has a previous felony conviction, was in possession of the firearm on January 20, 2014, investigators claim.
The maximum penalty upon conviction includes up to 10 years in custody, a $250,000 fine, 3 years of supervised release, and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
Grimm was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending trial and is currently presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The investigation is being conducted by the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Ted L. McBride prosecuting the case.
A trial date has not been set for Grimm, who appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy on March 21, 2014, and pled not guilty to the indictment.
