Huntsville Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Child Pornography
A 34-year-old man from Huntsville, Arkansas, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for accessing the internet with the intent to view child pornography.
According to court records, Otis Willt was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison followed by 25 years of supervised release on one count of Accessing the Internet with the Intent to View Child Pornography.
The sentencing hearing was held in the United States District Court in Fayetteville, presided over by the Honorable Timothy L. Brooks.
In June 2017, Officers with Arkansas Community Corrections conducted a search of Willt’s residence and confiscated three cellular phones as evidence.
These phones were subsequently turned over to the Northwest Arkansas Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce for forensic analysis, which revealed that Willt had used the seized phones to search the internet for images of child pornography.
During the prosecution of the case, the Government presented the Court with evidence that Willt had previously been convicted under the laws of the State of Virginia of an offense related to the Possession of Child Pornography.
Willt was indicted in October 2017 on federal charges and pleaded guilty in January 2018.
This case was investigated by Arkansas State Probation and Parole, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Northwest Arkansas Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce.
Assistant United States Attorney Dustin Roberts prosecuted the case for the United States.
