Pocatello, ID – Matthew G. Burgett, 24, of Blackfoot, Idaho, has been indicted for the unlawful possession of firearms, a federal crime that carries serious penalties.
According to the indictment, on or about September 24, 2015, Burgett knowingly possessed two firearms, despite having been adjudicated as a mental defective and committed to a mental institution.
The charge of unlawful possession of a firearm is punishable by up to 10 years in prison, a maximum fine of $250,000, and not more than three years of supervised release.
