Timothy Mullally, Methamphetamine Distribution and Firearm Possession, Iowa 2022

A Le Mars man’s dirty habit turned deadly, as Timothy Mullally, 48, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and a firearm charge in federal court in Sioux City, Iowa.

According to court documents, Mullally and accomplices peddled over two kilograms of methamphetamine from January 2022 to September 2022. The investigation revealed two instances in August and September of 2022 where Mullally dealt over 800 grams of pure methamphetamine to a cooperating witness.

Law enforcement and the United States Postal Inspection Service intercepted a three-pound package of methamphetamine from California bound for Mullally’s Le Mars residence in September 2022. During a search of the properties and vehicles, authorities seized $5,830 and two firearms.

Mullally admitted to being a regular user of methamphetamine, making him ineligible to possess firearms. The guilty plea has Mullally facing a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment, along with a $10,000,000 fine and at least five years of supervised release.

The firearm conviction carries a possible maximum sentence of 15 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and not more than three years of supervised release.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde and investigated by the Tri-State Drug Task Force, a collaborative effort between local and federal law enforcement agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Administration, Sioux City Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, and more.

Mullally was taken into custody by the United States Marshal and will remain in custody until sentencing. The court date will be set after a presentence report is prepared.
