Orlin Eli Gonzalez, 26, from Jacksonville, Florida, has been slammed with federal charges after authorities caught him red-handed in a sinister plot to entice a 13-year-old child into sexual activity online.
The DOJ’s United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe issued the chilling revelation, detailing how Gonzalez used his cellphone and the dark web to attempt to lure the minor. If convicted of this heinous crime, Gonzalez could face a minimum penalty of ten years to life in federal prison, along with a lifetime of supervised release.
The FBI’s undercovers were on the prowl for predators like Gonzalez during an intensive operation targeting adults who prey on children online. Posing as a 13-year-old girl, the undercover agent engaged in conversation with Gonzalez, codenamed “Orlean.” The conversation soon turned dark, with Gonzalez seeking nude photos and explicitly asking about sexual acts.
On September 4, 2025, just before Gonzalez was to meet the child at her residence, he was nabbed by FBI agents as he pedaled his bicycle towards the rendezvous point. This case is a stark reminder of the dangers lurking in the digital world and the relentless efforts of law enforcement to protect our children.
Assistant United States Attorney D. Rodney Brown is prosecuting this case, which is part of Project Safe Childhood, the Department of Justice’s initiative combating child sexual exploitation since 2006. Gonzalez is presumed innocent until proven guilty, but his actions have painted a grim picture of intent.
The FBI’s hard work and dedication in this investigation highlight the importance of their efforts to safeguard our youth from predators. For more information on Project Safe Childhood, visit www.justice.gov/psc.
