Anabell Santiago, Fentanyl Conspiracy, New York 2024

⏱ 2 min read

A Jamestown woman is going down for seven years after getting caught in a tangled web of fentanyl and cocaine dealing, federal authorities announced.

Anabell Santiago, 53, was sentenced to 84 months behind bars by U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra Jr. after pleading guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl and cocaine.

It all went down when cops executed a search warrant at a Van Buren Street residence in November 2023, netting cash, a stash of fentanyl, pills, and drug paraphernalia. But things got hairy when Santiago’s hubby Santos Santiago tried to torch his fentanyl stash, sending a cloud of the deadly opioid into the air. Two officers inhaled the toxic cloud, with one needing medical attention.

Months later, investigators made a controlled buy of fentanyl from Santiago, leading to another search warrant at her Whitley Avenue pad. This time, they found more fentanyl, crack cocaine, guns, ammo, and a small fortune in cash – $30,369 to be exact.
