Florida Man Sentenced to 87 Months for Receiving Child Pornography

Floridians are outraged as Jeffrey Robert Libman, a 42-year-old Fort Lauderdale resident, was sentenced to 87 months in prison for receiving child pornography. This shocking verdict comes as a relief to families across the state who are fed up with the scourge of child exploitation.

According to sources, Libman was first identified by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) and the FBI during an investigation of Webe Web Corp., a Florida-based company. As part of his plea agreement, Libman admitted to receiving images that depict prepubescent children and children engaged in sadistic or masochistic conduct.

The investigation began in November 2006, when Libman, Marc Evan Greenberg and Webe Web Corp. were indicted in a separate case in the Northern District of Alabama for conspiracy to produce images of child pornography and transportation of images of child pornography. That case is still pending.

Libman’s guilty plea came on September 8, 2009, after being indicted by a grand jury in the Southern District of Florida on April 28, 2009. He was also sentenced to lifetime supervised release, following his prison term.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant Deputy Chief Alexandra R. Gelber and Trial Attorney Elizabeth M. Yusi of the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section and Assistant U.S. Attorney A. Marie Villafaña of the Southern District of Florida. The case was investigated by USPIS, the FBI and the CEOS’ High Technology Investigative Unit.

An indictment is merely an allegation. Defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law. As Floridians, we must remain vigilant in the fight against child exploitation and support our law enforcement agencies in their efforts to bring these perpetrators to justice.

The 87-month prison sentence is a testament to the tireless efforts of our investigators and prosecutors. We must continue to work together to protect our children and ensure that those who prey on them are held accountable.
