BUFFALO, N.Y. – A Pennsylvania man is facing up to life in prison after pleading guilty to possessing a large quantity of methamphetamine in New York.
Jerry J. Roneker, 43, of Correy, PA, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo to possessing with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.
On March 9, 2019, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies observed Roneker’s vehicle crossing the center line of the road while on routine patrol in the Town of Chautauqua. After conducting a traffic stop, deputies found a smoking pipe and two large chunks of suspected methamphetamine.
Deputies also located a loaded 9mm handgun, $10,210 in U.S. currency, suspected ecstasy pills, packaging materials, a digital scale, drug paraphernalia, Xanax pills, MDMA pills, Suboxone strips, and two hypodermic needles in the vehicle.
The plea is the result of an investigation by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Roneker faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life, as well as a $10,000,000 fine.
The case is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Misha A. Coulson.
