Buffalo Man Sentenced to 78 Months in Prison for Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine

Buffalo, N.Y.–In a significant blow to the city’s narcotics trade, Jesus Antonio Cotto, 43, of Buffalo, N.Y., was sentenced to 78 months in prison by Chief U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny for possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

According to court documents, Cotto was convicted following a jury trial. Assistant United States Attorneys Thomas S. Duszkiewicz and Frank T. Pimentel, who handled the case, stated that the defendant attempted to sell cocaine to a confidential informant working with the Drug Enforcement Administration.

As a result of this failed transaction, law enforcement officers searched Cotto’s Buffalo residence and recovered an additional amount of cocaine, a handgun, a scale, and the wrappings from 3 kilograms of cocaine.

The sentencing is the culmination of an investigation on the part of Special Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Brian R. Crowell, Special Agent in Charge, New York Region, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, under the direction of Frank J. Christiaño, Resident Agent in Charge.

Cotto’s guilty verdict and subsequent sentencing serve as a stark reminder of the consequences of engaging in illicit narcotics activity. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this story and provide updates as more information becomes available.

With this sentencing, the community can rest a little easier knowing that those who would seek to exploit and harm our citizens are being held accountable.
