Dacula Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Sexually Exploiting Minors

ATLANTA – In a disturbing case of online exploitation, Johann Rainer Nix, 36, of Dacula, Georgia, has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for producing child sexual abuse material.

According to U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg, Nix used popular social media platforms to lure and exploit four minors, whom he met online, between 2022 and 2023. The defendant coerced and enticed the minors to create and send him sexually explicit images and/or videos. He also sent several minors photographs of his genitalia.

Nix’s crimes were committed using social media applications, where he exploited vulnerable minors for his depraved desires. The FBI, along with local law enforcement, investigated the case and brought Nix to justice.

The defendant pleaded guilty to one count of production of child sexual abuse material on November 18, 2025. U.S. District Judge J.P. Boulee handed down the 20-year prison sentence, followed by a lifetime of supervised release.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Lauren E. Renaud and L. Skye Davis prosecuted the case, which was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.

Nix’s sentence serves as a reminder of the dangers of online predators and the importance of monitoring children’s social media use. Parents are urged to have open conversations with their children about online safety and to be vigilant in protecting them from predators like Nix.
