Alien Pleads Guilty in Beaver Falls, PA
PITTSBURGH – A shocking case of illegal immigration has come to an end in the Western District of Pennsylvania. An alien found in Beaver Falls, Pa., pleaded guilty and was sentenced in federal court to time served on his conviction of reentry of removed alien, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
According to information presented to the court, Jose Guardado-Quezada, 33, of Mexico, was formally removed from the United States by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Jan. 30, 2007. However, he was found to be illegally present in Beaver Falls on Feb. 6, 2014.
Senior United States District Judge Gustave Diamond imposed the sentence on Guardado-Quezada, stating that the sentence imposed was sufficient but not greater than necessary to serve the need for deterrence, punishment and incapacitation.
Assistant United States Attorney Leo M. Dillon prosecuted this case on behalf of the government. U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Department of Homeland Security for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Guardado-Quezada.
Guardado-Quezada’s sentence of time served amounts to approximately five months. The case serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of violating federal immigration laws.
In a statement, U.S. Attorney Hickton said, ‘The sentence imposed on Guardado-Quezada demonstrates our commitment to enforcing the nation’s immigration laws and protecting our communities from those who would seek to disregard them.’
The case is a reminder that immigration laws are in place to protect the United States and its citizens. Those who violate these laws will be held accountable.
