Jose Roberto Pacheco-Alvarado, a 23-year-old Honduran national, has pleaded guilty to a charge of illegal re-entry in a federal court in Louisiana.
Pacheco-Alvarado, who was found in the Eastern District of Louisiana on April 29, 2013, admitted to having been previously removed from the US and not obtaining consent from the Secretary of Homeland Security to reapply for admission.
According to court documents, Pacheco-Alvarado’s prior felony conviction will result in a sentencing enhancement, increasing the maximum penalty to 10 years imprisonment, a fine of $250,000, and 3 years of supervised release.
The case was investigated by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement and Removal Operations (ICE), and is being handled by Special Assistant United States Attorney Robert Weir.
Pacheco-Alvarado’s sentencing is scheduled for October 16, 2013, at 9:00 A.M.
The court heard that Pacheco-Alvarado had been previously removed from the US, but without the required consent, he re-entered the country, a serious crime that has severe consequences.
Pacheco-Alvarado’s actions demonstrate the risks and dangers of attempting to re-enter the US without proper authorization.
