Jose Tiscareno-Rangel, Illegal Reentry, Ohio 2026

TOLEDO, Ohio – A 35-year-old man from Mexico has been sentenced to 14 months in federal prison for illegally reentering the United States.

Jose Tiscareno-Rangel was found to be in the country without the consent of the U.S. Attorney General or the Secretary for Homeland Security after immigration officials learned of his presence in July 2024.

He was previously removed from the U.S. on September 10, 2018, and had a previous conviction for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than 1.5 kilograms of heroin.

Tiscareno-Rangel was found during an encounter with law enforcement at a gas station in Toledo in July 2024. He admitted to illegally re-entering the country.

U.S. District Court Judge Jack Zouhary handed down the 14-month sentence for illegally reentering the United States.

Tiscareno-Rangel will be deported to Mexico upon completion of his prison sentence.

This case was investigated by the United States Border Patrol-Sandusky Bay Station and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Dexter L. Phillips for the Northern District of Ohio.
