WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA – In a shocking display of brazen thievery, Kasie A. Morgan, 24, of Columbus, Ohio was sentenced to 35 months in federal court today for transporting stolen goods across state lines, Acting United States Attorney Betsy Steinfeld Jividen, announced.
Morgan’s crimes unfolded when she conspired to steal smart phones, tablets, head phones, game stations, and computers from Walmart, Target, and Meijer stores in eight different states, including West Virginia and Ohio. The value of the stolen goods is estimated to be in excess of $500,000.
Morgan pled guilty to one count of ‘Conspiracy to Transport Stolen Goods in Interstate Commerce’ in October 2016. Her crimes have left a trail of devastation in their wake, with store owners and employees left to pick up the pieces.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert H. McWilliams, Jr. prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Columbus Police Department investigated.
Senior U.S. District Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr. presided over the case, handing down the 35-month sentence.
Grimy Times reached out to Kasie Morgan’s representatives for comment but received no response.
