CHICAGO — Keeshon Samson, 31, a Chicago man who was previously convicted of illegally possessing a stolen handgun on the city’s South Side, has been sentenced to nearly two years in federal prison for violating his court-supervised release conditions.
Samson served time for his crime before being released in 2023. However, he faced new charges in February 2025 after breaking into an acquaintance’s house and engaging in a series of harassing phone calls to a DCFS investigator, threatening physical safety.
On July 2, 2025, U.S. District Judge John Robert Blakey found Samson guilty of violating his supervised release by committing these crimes, which included the prohibited act of committing any federal, state, or local crime while under supervision.
Judge Blakey sentenced Samson to 21 months in federal prison, a move announced by United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, Andrew S. Boutros, and Christopher Amon, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Field Division of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
“Supervised release is designed to help offenders transition back into society while ensuring public safety,” said U.S. Attorney Boutros. “When a defendant on supervised release violates the clear conditions designed to protect the community, my office will not hesitate to prosecute the violation.”
ATF SAC Amon added, “This sentence sends a clear message that violations of Court-imposed conditions of release will not be tolerated.”
