Kelly Brown, Child Pornography, Florida 2021

A Winter Park man has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for producing and distributing sexually explicit photos of young children, according to a federal indictment unsealed in the Middle District of Florida.

Kelly Brown, 41, of Winter Park, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Wendy Berger on October 20, 2021, for producing and distributing child pornography between June and July 2021.

Brown was arrested on July 20, 2021, after FBI agents approached him near his residence. During an interview with agents, Brown admitted to producing the explicit images of two young children using his smartphone at his residence, and further admitted to distributing them over the internet.

Forensic analysis of Brown’s smartphone and data card revealed that it contained 151 videos and 67 images depicting the sexual abuse of children, including infants.

This case was investigated by the FBI and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Amanda Daniels.

As part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the federal government to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse, the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section are leading the effort to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.

Brown must also serve a life term of supervised release, register as a sex offender, and forfeit electronic devices that were used to commit his criminal offenses.

This is another case brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the federal government to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
