Kokomo Woman Jailed for Animal Crushing
A 20-year-old Kokomo, Indiana woman has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for her role in a heinous animal crushing case.
According to court documents, Krystal Cherika Scott began posting graphic images and videos on social media in May 2020, showcasing the torture and killing of cats and dogs by hanging, skinning, and other means.
The disturbing content attracted the attention of concerned citizens who used publicly available information to try and identify the perpetrator.
In June 2020, the Boise, Idaho Police Department received a tip and opened an investigation, working in conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Ada County Idaho Sheriff’s Office.
After a thorough investigation, Scott was identified as the culprit and was subsequently arrested, charged, and found guilty of violating the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act of 2019.
Acting U.S. Attorney John E. Childress and FBI Indianapolis Special Agent in Charge Paul Keenan announced Scott’s sentencing.
Assistant United States Attorney Tiffany J. Preston, who prosecuted the case, stated that Scott will also serve 5 years of supervised release following her prison term.
The case was the result of a joint investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Boise Police Department, the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, and the Kokomo Police Department.
Scott’s heinous crimes have sent shockwaves through the community, and her sentencing serves as a reminder that animal cruelty will not be tolerated.
