Mason City Woman Pleads Guilty to Illicit Firearm Possession
A 36-year-old Mason City woman is facing serious jail time after pleading guilty to being a drug user in possession of firearms.
Brittany Graham, 36, of Mason City, Iowa, was convicted of one count of being a drug user in possession of firearms after a plea hearing in federal court in Sioux City, Iowa, on June 3, 2024.
According to court documents, Graham admitted to possessing four pistols in August 2022 while she was an unlawful user of marijuana. The case was brought as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a Department of Justice program aimed at reducing violent crime.
PSN is an evidence-based program that focuses enforcement efforts on the most violent offenders and partners with locally based prevention and reentry programs for lasting reductions in crime.
Graham faces a possible maximum sentence of 15 years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release following any imprisonment. Sentencing will be set after a presentence report is prepared, and Graham remains free on bond previously set.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Mason City Police Department, the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Mark Tremmel is prosecuting the case.
