Local Man Sentenced to 70 Months in Prison for Felon in Possession of a Firearm
CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – A Fairmont man has been sentenced to 70 months in prison for illegally possessing a firearm, announced United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II.
Kyle Kuroski, 24, was discovered to be in possession of a .45 caliber pistol last year in Marion County. Kuroski had previously been convicted of "Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine" in state court in West Virginia.
Assistant U.S. Attorney David J. Perri prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the Fairmont Police Department investigated.
Kuroski pled guilty in June 2016 to one count of "Felon in Possession of a Firearm." U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley presided over the sentencing hearing.
The sentence was handed down after Kuroski’s guilty plea. The charges against him stemmed from his possession of the firearm in Marion County last year.
Kuroski’s conviction and subsequent sentencing are the result of a collaborative effort between law enforcement agencies to combat gun violence in the region.
The case serves as a reminder of the consequences faced by individuals who engage in illegal activities involving firearms.
