Matthew Laiss, Double Voting, Pennsylvania 2020

PHILADELPHIA – A hard-hitting election fraud case has landed two Pennsylvania residents in legal hot water. Matthew Laiss, 31, of Bethlehem, and Miya Pack, 39, of Philadelphia, have been separately charged for voting more than once in federal elections.

Laiss faces charges related to the 2020 presidential election. The indictment details how he cast his ballot twice – once in Pennsylvania and again in Florida. Pack’s crime stems from the 2024 general election; she voted in New Jersey before casting a second vote in Philadelphia. Both face serious penalties if convicted.

Laiss, who moved to Florida in August 2020, received a mail-in ballot for the November 2020 election at his parents’ address. He filled it out and returned it despite being registered in Florida. Then, on Election Day, he voted again in Frostproof, Florida. Pack, registered in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania, voted early in Teaneck before returning to Philadelphia to cast her second vote.

The charges carry a heavy penalty: up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release, and fines ranging from $10,000 to $250,000. Both cases were investigated by the FBI and are being prosecuted with determination.

Assistant United States Attorney Mark Dubnoff is handling Laiss’s case, while Assistant United States Attorney Nancy Potts is leading the prosecution against Pack. The charges and allegations in both indictments remain mere accusations, as every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
