Lance Paul White, a 33-year-old man from Cherokee, Iowa, has been accused of possessing child pornography. The crime was discovered after a CyberTip was received regarding White’s Gmail account.
According to the investigation, White had possessed and viewed several graphic videos depicting child pornography. Law enforcement traced the internet activity back to White’s address in Cherokee, Iowa. White engaged in a consensual interview with officers at his home and admitted that he possessed child pornography, and several electronics were seized.
Forensic analysis of White’s electronic devices revealed dozens of videos and images of child pornography, as well as several photographs and videos of prepubescent minors. The materials involved also portrayed sadistic or masochistic conduct or other depictions of violence.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
Lance Paul White is facing a possible maximum sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and at least five years of supervised release following any imprisonment. Sentencing before United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand will be set after a presentence report is prepared. White remains in custody of the United States Marshal pending sentencing.
