A Bettendorf man has been sentenced to prison for his involvement in a domestic dispute that went awry, resulting in the discovery of methamphetamine and a firearm.

Laron Josiah Carr, 26, of Bettendorf, was sentenced to 84 months in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and felon in possession of a firearm.

On May 31, 2018, Bettendorf Police officers responded to a domestic dispute involving a firearm. When they arrived, Carr ran from the police and drew a loaded firearm, putting himself and others at risk. Carr was eventually taken into custody without incident.

During the arrest, officers also found Carr to be in possession of methamphetamine packaged for sale. This discovery led to further investigation and ultimately, a guilty plea to the charges on January 22, 2019.
