Glennie Antonio McGee, Fentanyl Trafficking, Alabama 2022

⏱ 4 min read

A Mobile, Alabama couple, Glennie Antonio McGee, 42, and Echandza Dianca Maxie, 43, were sentenced to life in prison for operating a lucrative drug-trafficking organization that distributed bulk cocaine and fentanyl, using children as couriers, between 2017 and 2024. The organization sourced cocaine from cartel-connected suppliers in Texas and Mexico, and fentanyl pills from various sources in Alabama, Florida, Washington, and other locales. The couple’s illicit proceeds funded lavish trips to exotic locations, including France, Greece, the Maldives, Mexico, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates.

The evidence against McGee and Maxie included wiretap recordings, CCTV videos, pole camera and aerial surveillance videos, text messages, phone data, financial records, tax records, and DNA evidence. In December 2022, FBI agents arrested one of McGee’s cocaine suppliers following a high-speed chase in midtown Mobile, seizing 9.5 kilograms of cartel-sourced cocaine. A search warrant at McGee’s and Maxie’s house in west Mobile yielded a backpack with cocaine residue, bulk cash, custom jewelry, and other proceeds of their crimes.

The couple’s organization distributed hundreds of pounds of cocaine and tens of thousands of fentanyl pills, counterfeited to look like oxycodone. The use of children as couriers added to the severity of their crimes. The life sentences handed down to McGee and Maxie reflect the gravity of their offenses and the determination of law enforcement to combat drug trafficking in Alabama.

The investigation and prosecution of McGee and Maxie were the result of a collaborative effort between the FBI, Homeland Security, and other agencies. The case highlights the ongoing struggle against drug trafficking in the United States and the importance of cooperation between law enforcement agencies to disrupt and dismantle these organizations.
