Juanita Faye Holtschneider, a 58-year-old accountant from Fort Polk, Louisiana, has been sentenced to 33 months in prison for embezzling money from her employer and the US government. Holtschneider worked for G2 Material Handling, where she redirected automatic deposits meant for the US Treasury and the company’s account to her own personal account. She then created false documents to hide her scheme, which was only detected after the IRS noticed the company’s failure to submit regular employment tax payments.
Holtschneider’s actions resulted in a significant loss for both the US government and G2 Material Handling. She has been ordered to pay $322,098.70 in restitution, with $289,607.70 going to the US government and $32,491.00 to G2 Material Handling.
The case was investigated by the Internal Revenue Service’s Criminal Investigation division and prosecuted by Assistant US Attorney Patrick Carney. Holtschneider’s sentence reflects the severity of her crimes and the impact they had on her employer and the government.
The prosecution of Holtschneider is part of a larger effort by the Department of Justice to combat fraud and protect taxpayer dollars. The National Fraud Enforcement Division, established in 2010, is tasked with investigating and prosecuting those who engage in fraudulent activities.
