⏱ 2 min read

Dejaun Angelo, a 23-year-old Madison resident, was busted for running a large-scale marijuana operation out of his near eastside apartment. In June 2025, the FBI received a tip about Angelo’s online activity, which included racist and violent threats. Police obtained a search warrant and found approximately 19.5 pounds of marijuana, 423 grams of hashish, and 1,500 grams of hashish oil, as well as numerous firearms and hundreds of ammunition boxes. Angelo pleaded guilty to possessing marijuana with intent to distribute and was sentenced to 3 years in federal prison.

The investigation was a joint effort by the Madison Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney William M. Levins prosecuted the case, which was heard by U.S. District Judge William M. Conley. Judge Conley expressed concern over Angelo’s hateful online comments, noting that it was fortunate police stopped him before he could cause harm.

Angelo’s sentence includes 4 years of supervised release following his 3-year prison term. The case highlights the ongoing issue of marijuana trafficking in Madison and the importance of law enforcement collaboration to combat the problem.

The FBI’s tip about Angelo’s online activity led to the discovery of his large-scale marijuana operation, which was likely supplying the local community. The presence of firearms and ammunition in Angelo’s apartment and storage unit raises concerns about the potential for violence and the need for continued vigilance by law enforcement.
