MADISON, WIS. – The grim halls of federal court in Madison were witness to a decisive verdict as Gregory P. Robinson, 41, was found guilty on all counts following a three-day trial. Accused of repeatedly distributing cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl; possessing those same drugs with intent to distribute; and maintaining a drug-involved premises, Robinson faced a jury that returned a guilty verdict after just over two hours of deliberation.
The government’s case was stark: Robinson sold controlled substances to an undercover officer in Madison on four separate occasions. The sale of cocaine on June 3, 2024, was followed by exchanges involving cocaine and fentanyl on June 6, and again with cocaine, fentanyl, and heroin on June 13 and June 20. On June 25, 2024, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Robinson’s hotel room, where they discovered more than 500 grams of cocaine, heroin, and over 40 grams of fentanyl, along with drug packaging materials and the makings for crack cocaine.
Chemical analysis by the Wisconsin State Crime Laboratory confirmed the substances’ composition. The Drug Enforcement Administration witness emphasized that the amounts found were indicative of an intent to distribute rather than personal use. Chief U.S. District Judge James D. Peterson has set sentencing for October 2, 2025, where Robinson faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison for each drug distribution charge and the maintaining a drug involved premises charge.
Each possession with intent charge carries a mandatory minimum of 5 years and a maximum of 40 years. The investigation was led by the Madison Police Department, Dane County Narcotics Task Force, and the Drug Enforcement Administration, with support from the ATF Madison Crime Gun Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Colleen Lennon and William M. Levins are handling the prosecution.
Robinson’s conviction serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in Wisconsin, and the relentless efforts of law enforcement to dismantle such operations. The public is urged to remain vigilant against the threats posed by drug trafficking networks.
